We have had people ask us what the difference is between other dental offices with Invisalign. Fair question.
There are a great number of variations with Invisalign, and it all relates to what the treating Dentist wants as an endpoint. Once all the x-rays and photos and impressions are submitted, the technicians return their suggestions for final position of the teeth to the dentist, who may accept or modify their suggestions.
A large majority of offices accept the initial suggestion.
At ADANW, we look beyond the front teeth, because the long-term success of the case depends more on the position of the back teeth, and how they fit together. It is relatively easy to do a quick fix on the front teeth, but if the bite is ignored, the chances are that the teeth will shift back to where they were.
On the other hand, properly addresing the position of the back teeth has great short- and long-term benefits. For one thing, a balanced arch is largely self-supporting, with each tooth touching their neighbors in exactly the correct position, so there is less likelihood of the bad bite returning. For another, teeth that are solidly locked together in a tight bite tend to lead to grinding, clenching, and TMJ problems; we work to free up the bite so the jaws can slide freely and easily across each other.
Our office has studied both conventional braces and Invisalign, and we are comfortable in providing whichever method is more efficient to get you to your ideal endpoint.
