The Best that Dentistry Has to Offer
There is no restorative material that can match the strength, versatility, and beauty of properly designed and positioned bonded porcelains. That is why we use these restorations for virtually all our crowns, bridges, inlays, onlays, and veneers.
With our CEREC 3D technology, the iTero Optical Scanner, and our TekScan computerized bite adjustment, we are able to use these porcelains to restore teeth to their original strength, contour, and esthetic. Unlike composite materials, porcelains wear at approximately the same rate as natural tooth structure and will not shrink, distort, or weaken disproportionately.
This means that the likelihood of spaces or gaps opening between the teeth (which can lead to gum infection and bone loss) is extremely remote. Additionally, because there is only a very, very thin layer of composite bonding between the porcelain restoration and the tooth, there is very little that can go wrong over time.
Larger Metal-Free Dental Restorations
Teeth that require larger restorations, including molar crowns or bridgework of any sort, are generally best restored with a ceramic base. These restorations are far more beautiful and lifelike and avoid the darkening near the gum line.
If you are in a hurry, we can do single molar crowns in one day that are exceptionally strong, but this is generally a slightly longer appointment. If you are not in a “need-it-now” situation, we often will have a lab complete the case, as the total amount of time you need to be here is slightly shorter. Additionally, our ceramic lab can use materials that are far harder than what can be produced in one visit.
Porcelain veneers are an ultra-conservative way to change the shape and color and even size of the teeth, and we will use them on occasion to correct misshaped teeth or give a final touch for an orthodontic case. If we are straightening teeth with Invisalign®, we can pre-plan for these veneers and place them with very little preparation of the teeth at all. Veneers are incredibly natural-looking, minimally invasive, and can last for many decades.
With any restoration, it is important to make sure that the bite is just right, which is why all our bonded porcelain cases are double checked when we place them in the mouth.
Please don't procrastinate if you have a dental problem but are worried about the time, cost, or pain associated with fixing it. Perhaps bonded porcelain restorations can offer you a solution. Give us a call so we can discuss options with you.
