We Welcome All Dental Insurance

Dental insurance is designed to help you attain and maintain optimal dental health, but it is far different than medical insurance.  In truth, dental insurance is more of an encouragement toward the prevention of problems rather than a means to provide treatment for those problems.  Everyone wants to avoid problems, and the best way to do this is with cleanings and exams, which allows our team to address problems when they are small.

But, dental insurance can be complicated, and every plan is different.  At Advanced Dental Arts NW, we work hard to ensure you get every benefit to which you are entitled.  We are excellent at knowing what the insurance carrier wants, and we provide that information with every claim so the benefits are paid in a timely manner.  We are happy at any time to review what your policy covers and give you the benefit of our expertise.  And, we always review estimates of what should be covered.

That having been said, your dental insurance is a contract between you or your employer and the insurance company, and we are simply a provider of health care.  We cannot influence what is actually in your insurance, and questions about that should be addressed with your provider.

How Dental Insurance Works

Dental insurance sounds like medical insurance, but in truth, it is vastly different.  While medical insurance is designed to cover very significant expenses relating to whole body health, dental insurance is largely geared toward maintaining what you have and making relatively minor repairs.  Most dental insurance plans cover things like periodic cleanings, diagnostic X-rays, and examinations, but cap the amount they will pay to exclude major restorative expenses.  And, they artificially restrict what they may cover to limit their financial liability.  It acts more like a prepaid plan than actual insuring against major loss.

That having been said, dental insurance IS highly beneficial to maintaining optimal dental health in order to minimize long-term expenses, and you are best getting cleanings and preventative measures done in a timely and scheduled manner.

"An ounce of prevention," as they say...

At Advanced Dental Arts NW, we will work to help you obtain the full benefits from your insurance carrier.  We will, on your behalf, submit all paperwork, and will keep you fully informed as to the status of your claim.  And, we will credit your account with the payment on the day we receive it, and let you know your balance.

What Your Dental Insurance Plan Covers

Generally speaking, most insurance plans encourage the prevention of problems over the treatment of those problems. Cleanings, exams, and X-rays are usually covered at the highest percentage, followed by fillings and extractions, and finally, at the lowest priority, long-term durable restorations like crowns, bridges, and implants.

Bear in mind that every plan is different, with different deductibles and different maximum payouts.  That is why it is so important for us to help you interpret the nuances of your specific plan.  And, although we cannot and will not compromise our goal to provide you with the best overall treatment, we can work with you to prioritize your long-term care to work as much as possible within the constraints of your coverage.
