Frequently Asked Dentistry Questions
Sometimes, people’s knowledge about dentistry is a lot like their knowledge about car maintenance: they know they need it, but they don’t really understand the particulars about it. Thankfully, the team at Advanced Dental Arts NW is happy to fill any gaps in your dental IQ. You’re always encouraged to ask us questions, and below, we’ve already answered some of the frequently asked dentistry questions we hear every day. If you’re curious about something concerning your teeth, go ahead and give us a call.
What should I do if I’m experiencing a toothache?
Often, minor dental pain is caused by a piece of food debris being stuck in between the teeth, so start by thoroughly rinsing and flossing the area. If this doesn’t help, or if the pain is severe, go ahead and give our dental office a call. We’ll be happy to see you right away and provide the relief you need.
My gums bleed whenever I clean my teeth. Should I be concerned?
You may be brushing/flossing too aggressively. Try cleaning your teeth with a lighter touch and switching to a soft-bristled brush. If the bleeding continues, then you may have early-stage periodontal disease. This is relatively easy to treat in our dental office, so it’s best to come see us right away before the infection can become worse.
My jaw is sore all the time and constantly pops and clicks. What is causing this?
It sounds like you’re experiencing problems with your TMJ, or temporomandibular joint. This is the joint located in front of your ears that allows your jaw to move in all directions, and issues with it affect about 10 million Americans every year. Your pain could be due to a strained or misaligned joint, but thankfully, Dr. Teasdale has decades of experience treating this kind of problem. He can examine the joint to determine exactly what is causing the issue and provide a custom solution to fix it right away.
I haven’t been to the dentist for a long time and have several issues. Can you still help me?
Yes! If your mouth is in poor condition due to years of neglect or fear of going to the dentist, then know there is hope thanks to Dr. Teasdale. He can use a full-mouth reconstruction to fix a multitude of problems at the same time using a personalized combination of procedures put together just for you. In the end, he can fully restore your health and appearance so it will look like nothing was ever wrong with your smile. To learn more and get started, contact us today.
Can I get something other than metal braces to straighten my teeth?
Yes! If you’re an adult with crooked or crowded teeth, they can be corrected discreetly using Invisalign. This treatment uses clear, lightweight plastic trays fitted over the teeth to shift them, enabling a patient to maintain their regular appearance while they improve their smile. You can learn more about Invisalign and get started right away by scheduling a consultation with us.
Will you accept my dental insurance?
Advanced Dental Arts NW accepts and is in-network with many of the most popular insurance plans available today, and we’re happy to work with out-of-network policies as well. To learn how we can use your particular plan to help you save on your care, give us a call.
I don’t have insurance. Is it possible to finance my dental care?
Yes. With CareCredit financing, you can easily break up the cost of your treatments into smaller monthly installments. They offer many plans with little to no interest, and you can even sign up for one right through our website. To learn more, visit our For Patients page.
