Cosmetic Dentistry with Advanced Dental Arts NW
Over the past twenty years, cosmetic dentistry has risen in popularity as many people realize that a bright smile not only makes our appearance more attractive, but it also can boost your confidence. There are many cosmetic dental treatments available you to help you be proud of your smile. These can include changing the shape or alignment of particular teeth or fixing occlusions. It may also include working to correct bites that are off-center and causing TMJ, jaw popping, or other jaw pain. At Advanced Dental Arts NW, our cosmetic dentistry services can also help fill in any unwanted gaps or spaces in your teeth, lighten colors, and repair or replace any older, unattractive dental treatments.
Bonded Porcelain Restorations
There is no restorative material that can match the strength, versatility, and beauty of bonded porcelains. That is why we, along with the very best dental offices around the world, use these restorations for virtually all our crowns, bridges, inlays, onlays, and veneers.
With with our CEREC 3D technology and iTero scanning machine, we are able to use these porcelains to restore teeth to their original strengths, contours, and aesthetics. Unlike composite materials, porcelains wear at approximately the same rate as natural tooth structure, and will not shrink or distort or abrade disproportionately.
This means that the likelihood of spaces or gaps opening between teeth (which can impact food and lead to gum infection and bone loss) is extremely remote. Additionally, because there is only a very very thin layer of composite bonding between the porcelain and the tooth, there is very little that can go wrong over time.
Teeth that require larger restorations, including molar crowns, or bridgework of any sort, are generally best restored with a ceramic base, something that replaces the metals that used to be beneath crowns and bridges. These restorations are far more beautiful and lifelike, and avoid the darkening near the gum line.
If you are in a hurry, we can do single molar crowns in one day that are exceptionally strong, but this is generally a slightly longer appointment. If you are not in a “need-it-now” situation, we often will have the lab do the case, as the total amount of time you need to be here is slightly shorter.
Veneers are an ultra-conservative way to change the shape and color and even size of the teeth, and we will use them on occasion to correct missized teeth, or to give that final “zing” to an orthodontic case. If we are straightening teeth with Invisalign, we can pre-plan for these veneers, and be able to place them with very little preparation of the teeth at all.
This means no injections at any time. Veneers are incredibly aesthetic and very minimally invasive, and should last many decades.
With any restoration, it is important to have the bite just right, which is why all our bonded porcelain cases are double checked when we seat the restorations.
