Announcing Sleep and Sedation Dentistry, Done Right
It is no secret in our family dental office that some patients prefer being completely asleep when they have their dental care. And there is a certain comfort in knowing that your needed care is being done, efficiently and esthetically, while you are floating somewhere on Cloud Nine.
As a dentist, I have always been wary of full sedation because to do it correctly and with minimal risk, you need to have invested years of concentrated studies in a hospital training program, and to have a small fortune in monitoring equipment. Outside of Oral Surgeons, few dentists rise to this level of education, and so I have in the past, not felt comfortable in offering sedation services to our patients. All that is now changed.
Dr. Enrique is a fully licensed and board certified anesthesiologist, and has both trained and worked in hospitals for nearly a decade. We have arranged for him to work with us to offer our patients a whole new and different dental experience for sedation dentistry in SW Portland.
With this service, and under the constant care of Dr. Enrique, patients will be able to have all their dental care done in a minimum number of appointments, with no shots, and without discomfort. We wake you up when we complete the procedure(s), and make certain that you are feeling wonderful.
This is a tremendous benefit for those who need it, and we are so happy to be able to work with Dr. Enrique. Check out his work here.
If you are interested in this service, please call our office, and let them know. They are happy to fill you in with all the details.
Dr. Enrique Abreu
After beginning his career as a general surgeon, Dr. Abreu quickly decided that anesthesia was a better fit for his lifestyle. He received his medical degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Long Island, New York. Dr. Abreu grew to enjoy taking care of children having early experience working with pediatric surgeons and traveling on his first medical aid mission to Villahermosa, Mexico in 2001. He then attended a three-year anesthesia residency program at Tufts Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts.
In 2005, Dr. Abreu was recruited to join Oregon Anesthesia Group in Portland, Oregon where he worked until 2011. During those seven years he worked in the operating rooms at major Portland metro hospitals including Providence St. Vincents, Providence Portland, Legacy Emanuel, Mt. Hood, and Good Samaritan.
Since 2001, Dr. Abreu has participated in numerous overseas medical aid missions to many different countries including Brazil, Mexico, The Philippines, Egypt, Jordan, Venezuela, Guatemala, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic. In 2011, Dr. Abreu saw the need for safe, quality anesthesia services in dental offices. He answered this calling by creating Limelight Mobile Anesthesia Services. His services include intravenous anesthesia/sedation for adults and children who have severe anxiety over dental visits. Here is a link to his web site. He also makes it possible to administer dental care to children with special needs including developmental delay and autism. Today, Dr. Abreu provides general anesthesia with monitoring at over 15 different dental offices in Portland, Hood River, The Dalles, Salem, Tualatin, and Gresham. Dr. Abreu is a part-time resident of Hood River where he keeps a home. On any given windy day you can find him kite boarding on the Columbia or photographing the beauty of the Columbia Gorge.
